The best way to know if you want to buy and try a new art product isn't by the packaging or what a store tells you, but by what other artists think of it. They use it most. They know its capabilities and flaws. I've decided to start a rating system on products the artists here would like to recommend.

So post here, or PM me if there is a product that you would like to rate. I will chose a product each week and post a poll for that item so people can come here and rate it. Everyone is encouraged to leave a post of why they chose the rate the item as they did.

This will help other artists to make an educated decision on which purchases they should make.

This will be a 1-4 star rating system on the polls.

P.S. - Please specify brands.

Canvases spring to mind (Frederix, Dick Blick, etc) and paints (Liquitex, W & N, Daniel Smith...)

I'm hoping to find some special products, some people love and some people are sorry they bought. Including paint brands, NEW paints, Specialty bristle brushes, Certain brands of Glass, ink types and good metals. I know there is a LOT out there, so this should keep going for MANY MANY weeks!

This is a great idea, Shannon!! Lately I've been wondering a lot about different brands of watercolor papers. It's so hard to find my favorite kind, it would be nice to see what people think of other brands before I buy it.

I agree, this is a great idea. I'd like to see different brands of paint rated. I recently splurged & bought a tube of Williamsburg oil paint & was blown away by how wonderful it was - I didn't know if that was the norm for that brand or if it was just that particular color which happened to have the perfect consistency. I'd love to know what others thought before going out & dropping more $$ on them.

Ok I don't have many ideas from the masses yet, so keep 'em coming!
