Should I add the dogs right paw (the dog on the right) to this painting or is it okay like this?   If I added the right paw I would make it light and make it fade just for effect.

Would appreciate your input.  Thanks!

If you added the other paw (even fading, wouldn't you need to extend the body down too, and then give the other dog paws as well? I'm sorry, maybe I'm not visualizing what you mean, can you sketch in what you're thinking in photoshop?

Yes, actually I would have to do the extra work, which I don't really want to do because we agreed on head and shoulders.  The picture she gave me was one that she had put together in photoshop and the paw was in the head and shoulder area.

Does it look good the way it is?

I think it's fine the way it is. This way, it's more in keeping with the style of the dog on the left.
You might want to add a bit of texture to the "right" dog's back though. Just a suggestion, I hope you don't mind.
Sweet portraits.

I think the righthand paw looks a bit odd Wanda, would have left it out altogether and just had head and shoulders on both dogs.

best from mike.

Does the customer want the paw in there? If she's not paw-insistent then I'd say take it out too, it doesn't look natural in that position. Of course this is assuming you CAN take it out, what medium did you use?

Wanda:

Sweet dogs.  What is the background of the piece going to be?  Depending on what you do, the absence of the paw might or might not stand out.  Feel free to show more pics as it progresses.  :)

I get a sense for their personalities from looking at the piece, so that's great.

I painted this in Goauche so I might be able to "wash out" the paw but it will leave a stain on the paper.  I guess I could then paint the whole background white to cover it.  She does not want a colored background.

Hhhhmmmm, what to do, what to do.
