from the Pittsburgh Glass Center March Newsletter: We're offering a few new 2-hour workshops that you must check out. Iridized on Iridized - Work with sparkly glass that shimmers and changes colors like a hologram to make decorative tiles. March 8, 14, 29 or May 3. FYI - Iridized glass art and jewelry was the hottest thing at the Philadephia Buyers Mart last weekend! Kilnformed Mosaic - Similar to stained glass without the foiling or soldering. Use flat glass and frit to create a mosaic tile. This is a great class for those who have tried fused glass tiles or stained glass. March 1, 14, 22 or May 19. 4-week classes are new this year too! This is a perfect way to progress from a workshop to more indepth techniques. We have 4-week versions of some of our favorite classes like Beginning Hot Glass, or Intro to Borosilicate or Moretti, plus we have new and exciting options like Coldworking, Crackle, Bits Galore and Pate de Verre among many others. The Photographic Imagery on Glass class is already full on Sundays, but we added another session on Thursdays from 6:30 -9:30. 4-week classes begin April 7, but we suggest that you sign up today! Call Sam at 412-365-2145 ext. 208 or go online. Get details and sign up online today! Hot Jam Friday, March 6 Friends and family are welcome to the March Hot Jam from 6 to 9pm. See photos from the Hot Jams Neighborhood Mosaic Project Community Day - March 14 Join us on Saturday, March 14 to create colorful mosaics of Pittsburgh from 11am to 3pm in the Hodge Gallery at PGC. Everyone is welcome to this free hands-on activity. The Neighborhood Mosaic Project is a collaborative residency and exhibition between Pittsburgh artist Daviea Davis, PGC, local schools and the community. During the residency, Daviea will visit locals schools and learn about their neighborhoods. In our Hodge Gallery, she is integrating the students' ideas into a 360 degree glass mosaic panorama of the unique characteristics and joys of Pittsburgh. You are invited to the gallery to help create the mosaic wonderland called Pittsburgh. The gallery is open during the mosaic process from 10am - 3pm, Tuesday - Friday until March 31. The exhibition will open on Friday, April 3. See photos of the Community Mosaic Project Pittsburgh Glass Center is a nonprofit, public access glass studio and gallery dedicated to teaching, creating and promoting glass art.
