When you consider a lot of ACEO's now are not following the format of a trading card except in size, I don't see why you cannot use canvas. A lot of artists are gluing bows, trinkets etc to the ACEO, which would actually make it as thick as a hardboard canvas (not stretch canvas). So the rule of thumb right now unofficially is the size of 2.5x3.5..... try some and see what happens, you will probably sell them all. I have often thought of cutting up the hardboard canvas to ACEO size, and then framing the painting (lots of people frame their ACEO's now in groupings on the wall), I might still do that as the gallery that reps me likes things framed, and this will make the painting much sturdier. If I do this I will have the same frame for all ACEO's in my shop so groupings would be uniform and that will encourage people to buy them in mulitples - yes? ETA: Same would go for stretch canvas - but that is more expensive. Anyway you can still call them ACEO's to answer your question. In tags also refer to them as miniatures as some buyers prefer that word.
