So I'm in between paintings and what should I paint next??.. have a statue lady picked out I could do, been thinking about just doing an abstract for fun, also have a sunflower in mind to start ...  Need to start my Nibble piece but want to do one now then my nibble piece...  Want to do an african still.. an all glass still..  also think it would be fun to do a figure painting.. but don't have a reference picked out...

I got up this morning.. Ryan got a cold again!!!! so we skipped preschool... I've stayed up later than usual.. hubby has practically been gone for 2 weeks.. he was in Moldova (first time I ever heard of that country) last week.. came home for one night then left for New York.. and came back this way to Belgium on Tuesday.. and he'll be home tomorrow..  I have been staying up a bit later.. and getting up early with the kids.. I need my lots of sleep.. so I got up this morning.. got Logan on the bus to school.. fed Ryan.. and stuff and then napped on the couch while Ryan watched cartoons..  Want to start a painting but i'm in decisive what to do?..  feeling lazy..  Just surfing the internet and looking at magazines.. though I should do laundry and do some picking up..

So someone make up my mind for me.. what should I paint next?

Funny girl!!.. I did paint our basement here as it had this nasty wallpaper that looked like bricks and i couldn't bare it!.. so I ripped down the paper and painted it bright yellow..  But the rest of it.. I don't care.. we're moving in 08.. so its not worth it..

though I can't wait to have our own house when we move back so i can paint rooms and decorate.. and actually hang paintings on the wall and actually care how they look.. Now I just put paintings whereever as decorating this house isn't high priority.

I vote for the African Still. I would love to see what you come up with

What does your husband do? I mean I know he is in the military, but what does he do in all of the foreign countries?

I vote for African, too.  Heather, can we have input on the composition?  In other words, before you start, have the opportunity to critique your still set-up?

Ok.. here's some pics of the things I could put in..  I want to use the thin people..  I have the thinking man thin guy and the woman..  maybe one or both?  Those big masks in the back of this first pic may be too big for my canvas.. this will be a 20x24 canvas..  Also thinking of using one of the giraffes.. maybe the one could be in the front with his legs hanging off like they do here..  Was thinking with all the dark woods I'm going to need brights!..  so was thinking of a bowl of lemons.. maybe in that soapstone bowl ???  Already thinking background colors possibly in reds/oranges???  I don't know yet..   Also on the left the guy is a medicine man..

pic one:

pic two.. a bit closer of the stuff:  see the three monkeys for see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil

the zebra vase.. goes great with it..  and I think would look good in the still:  an older pic..  the planter with the plant may be good too instead of having flowers..  I was thinking if I used it.. only using it peaking out from the sides.. not the whole thing or anything..

and some more masks..  don't have the nigerian one in there.. but its too scarey looking to go in the still anyway..
these are really skinny.. like they are about 3.5 inches across and 12 tall..

this one is big.. but I think pretty cool..  might be too big for the painting.. ??

ok.. that's enough.. tell me if I need to give more options.

I think i should use one of those jumbo masks in the first pics.. they are so cool.. those are the masks a coworker picked up for my hubby in Ghana and now in repayment I'm painting him a free painting of his pets..  there's just too much cool stuff happening in those maskes..if would be cool to work around them..  but I'll wait for some votes.  this will be fun for me!!

Okay, Heather, here is what I would like to see a photo of to see them together and laid out (don't kill me!).

First, the potted plant towards the back, and off to the right side (partly off the canvas).  Further forward, slightly to the left of center, the round mask that is on it's own stand.  I like the zebra vase, adn think I want it in there but have to see it in proportion to everything else.  Maybe a bowl of fruit - are you saying that giraffe bowl is soapstone?  Do you have a plain bright one (red, orange, terracotta) or wood one?  Once all that is arranged, maybe the medicine man, forward right.  Of course, I wish I could go play with them and arrange them!  LOL
