Hello
It has been over a year since I have been on the EBSQ boards and much has changed. Forgive my ignorance if this subject has already been addressed...Perhaps this is even the wrong area to post this question and it should be moved to the welcome center.

I recieved a potential listing violation from ebay regarding my auction # 7363333999 for an inappropriate link.

Can anyone help?  if it happened to me, then it must be happening to others...Thank you PJ

here is what ebay wrote:
However, your listing was in violation of eBay's Inappropriate Links policy.

Your listing(s) contains the following information:

In the Description:link--> Certified Member of EBSQ and Self-Representing Artists leads to the site:
http://www.ebsqart.com/ebsqcert.asp?MemberID=261

eBay allows only the following types of links in a sellers item's description:

- One link to a page that further describes the item being sold in that listing
- One link to your email address that opens an email client for potential buyers to ask questions about items in your store.
- Links to photos of the item for sale
- Links to your eBay (including your eBay Store) or Half.com listings
- Links to your About Me page (in addition to the About Me icon already provided by eBay)
- One link to your listing terms and conditions (providing that the most relevant information is within the listing itself and that this page does not include any links off of eBay)
- Links that provide credits to third parties

If a logo is used for any of these links, it may be no greater than 88x33 pixels and it may not flash or otherwise move. (The exception to this guideline is links to a member's eBay or Half.com listings). For more information on Inappropriate Links visit the following Help page:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-links.htmlFor more information on Inappropriate Links visit the following Help page:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-links.html

Please note: violation of this or other eBay policies may result in forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings, limits on account privileges and account suspension.

Please review eBay's Listing Policies and User Agreement at the following locations:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/policies.html

hhmmm. I never had a problem, when I used the ebsq template.
That link is taking me to the COA page.
Maybe just remove the link but leave the LOGO?
I thnk this is really a question for ADMIN or the auction section.

Hi,
yes, I never had a problem before either, that is why this is so frustrating...I have other art listings that used the same template , but did not recieve notification that those were inappropriate...

I thought it might be a pixel size issue or something...

Not wanting to duplicate a posting, I only posted this message here...Is there a way to have ADMIN move this thread to the appropriate forum?
thanks,
Pj

pj, could you forward me the email with full headers? looks like ebay needs to review how they handle our template--again. everything to the letter is ebay legal.

Somebody at Ebay got a huge bug up thier backside over this...I even recieved a message on my answering machine .

I thought everything was correct/legal on the template, so I thought it might be a scam, but the message has been verified by ebay...Thank you for letting me know that indeed, I have not violated any Ebay listing rules.

So far the listing has not been pulled. Thank you for your timely response.

i'm on the phone with them now...they told me the listing was removed..  I responded ".however, the listing has NOT been removed , so it must have been reviewed by your staff and determined that it was NOT in violation"

now I am in purgatory on hold... i'll let you know if i get an answer...thanks

THe determination from Ebay is that the link IS inappropriate , that because it does not link to my item, but links to more information about EBSQ, that it is not allowed.

Some disgruntled customer reported this to ebay as a violation, and because it is my first offense, I only recieved a warning.

If other users are using EBSQ templates, they need to beaware that the link to the EBSQ certification page is not a legal link.

BTW, the Ebay representative never heard of EBSQ. I tried to educate them, but they were not interested in my response and toed the Ebay Militant line of "This is a violation and your listings containg these links will be terminated if not fixed within 48 hours"

Hi,
yes, I tried to explain that , but hadn't the eloquence or patience for them to determine otherwise. It's like trying to talk your way out of parking ticket on another planet.

Good luck, you are earning your keep today!

Yeah, someone has to report it in order for the listing to be pulled.  THAT policy certainly needs changing.  One report, and WHAM! the front-line monkey that makes $7 an hour pulls your listing without, apparently, actually looking at it.  Grr.

I recently complained on the ebay forum about some of thier new implimentations regarding the changes to the pro selling manager program...not to make a connection where only paranoia exists, but the "violation" was reported shortly afterwords...I'm not saying one thing is related to another, but it's an awfully strange coincidence.
