The author has kindly given me permission to post a few of my paintings for her children's book. The book is at the printer as we speak, and I'll post a link here where it will be for sale when we get the link.

I worked as a commercial artist for 15 years and during that time I was lucky enough to illustrate a previous mass market children's educational book. Illustrating that one book left me with a longing to do more. I think it gets in your blood. That's why I jumped, no, leaped at the chance to do this one. We're also working on a game box cover. I love making my paintings convey someone else's story or ideas. I like the author's input, and the adjusting and cranking around of my paintings, and the getting-closer-to-what-the-author wants challenge. So if anyone out there thinks they have a good idea for a children's book, contact me - I'm your illustrator :) I've been through the whole process from beginning to finished book twice.

Hi Heide, Hi Vicky, Hi Nata: As soon as I get the link where it will be sold, I'll post it here. I've got a couple pics posted in my EBSQ portfolio. I'm thinking about changing my blog to maybe ETSY, at least I think ETSY has blogs there for members, which I am. My LJ blog doesn't seem to get much traffic. But anyway, as soon as I get another blog set up, I'll post more pics of it on my blog. And also I'll post a photo of the other book I illustrated. Nata: Congrats on your book too!

The pic above is of things in a kid's pocket such as straw wrapper (on bottom of pic), wad of pink bubble gum (right side), etc.

Hi Nata:

I like doing that too, buying a book from an artist I've either met or talked to. There's an art group forming in our town and I just met an artist who has written two books of stories, so I had to buy one of her books. She autographed it too which I thought was cool.

I think your 3.5 year old would probably like the bright colors and illustrations in the book, and of course, every kid like to be read to. I think the reading level is about a third through fifth grade reading level.

cool! let me know when it's for sale....is the book educational? I ask because I know the librarian at a local school and I could put in a good word for them to buy your book for their library
