Maybe I should have posted here. Or in a non-public section?

That looks intriguing Muriel.  I bet it was a fascinating exhibit from the perspective of finding contrasts asn similarities in the work.  I'd love to do something collaborative with my daughter.

It looks fascinating, Muriel. I love slabwork ceramic sculpture...this looks like wonderful stuff. Wish there were bigger pics!

It was fascinating to see the talent in that family! And the fact that Rose Simpson is 25 years old and such an incredible artist already. My photos aren't great because flash wasn't allowed, but here's more.

This is the collaborative piece, with Rose's piece on the left and Roxanne's (her mom) on the right.

Roxanne Swentzell's self portrait. I love the quiet humor in her work. Everything is clay in this piece, except an actual mirror. There is a beautiful drawing on the face of the drawing pad.

Swentzell again. This piece is composed of 4 traditional Indian clowns and is part of the museum's permanent collection.

Another piece by the daughter, Rose Simpson. Her work is more disturbing than her mother's.

This is the work referred to in the Santa Fean magazine article.

Roxanne's website has a wonderful video where she talks about her art and life. It's a bit long, but well worth the time, I think.

those pieces are amazing! Thank you for sharing them with us.  I love the mother's gentle humor.....but also find myself moved by the daughters pieces.

Thanks for the pics! How large are these? Are they life sized roughly? They must be incredibly impactful in person....wish I could go see them!

Rose's standing pieces are about 4'; Roxanne's are smaller. The self-portrait drawing a self-portrait sits in a glass case. I'd say it's about 18" long.

That's my favorite of hers, too. Here's another view, where you can see a bit of the drawing.
