Wow.

I just spent the last hour playing on these programs, and I made...

nothing.  LOL  I can't figure out how to do anything.

I think just need a super dummy version.  LOL

I'm just clicking everywhere here and there, and waiting to see if stuff pops up.  LOL  It's me.  That's how I am with not reading directions and why it takes me like 2 weeks to put IKEA things together.  LOL

LOL yeah that's what i did.

the draw drop down does the different type of fractals, the filter drop downs will give it different looks.....

After a while getting use to it you can actually goin and tweak numbers.

I did find the color filters don't work well or I couldn't figure them out LOL

Trying different numbers and adding layers with different formulas is the way to do it.  I have'nt worked with Tierazon in a while.....but they are basically the same.

Apophysis is a bit different.  It is basically the same forumula and you change the settings.  When you look at the tool board you will see a box with a triangle in it. click that and it will give you a set of triangles.  These can be moved around and will affect the fractal.  You can also change the settings of the triangles to change different aspects of the fractal.  These can be subtle changes and will take some experimenting to change.  Changing the triangles is the most straightforward fun.  To the left of the viewing screen are more basic fractals, click on some of them to get a new starting fractal.

Also, I have been a bit busy, but found some time tonight to give you all this link.  Here is a definitive place for fractal programs.  Many are free and worth trying.

http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/Fractal_Software.html

I hope that works, if not pasgint it in or googling Fractal programs will get you to it as the first link.

Have fun!!  BTW.....GREAT fractal Kris!!  Love the shape and clean look to it! (sometimes it is hard to get a nice clean line like that!)

Carolyn

Look... it's been how long? When did I post last?  It's been 3 hours total.  And in the end, I cheated to get something that I liked. I think I've made a collage.  LOL

Nice John, I like the soft movement.  It almost looks like a person bending over.  Ok, maybe only I can see that, but it makes it interesting!!

Glad you guys like the programs.  But, beware dabbling in fractals can cause addiction!!

so from what I can tell you just click various menu choices until you get something you like? where's the art in that?
can someone explain more?

I dont know how to use the second one.

but with the first one you can go in and crop/zoom, change the actual detailed math/equasions behind the scenes to change the curves/lines in your fractal.

The process does start off very canned, but once you get used to the program you create things no one has ever seen before or created before, or will see again unless you save it out.

By second program do you mean Apophysis?  To work with apophisis you need to look at the tool bar across the top and click on the one that looks like a triangle on it's side.  This gives you a window that you can use to move the parts (triangles) around and see how it affects the fractal itself.  Also, to the right of the big window is several tabs.  One says triangles (I believe)...you can put in different amounts and the fractal will change (sometimes).  Apophysis can be a difficult fractal program, but a satisfying one.  Play with the tools along the top of both of the screens.  Also, it gives you about 100 starter fractals to start working with, go though those and see what you want to start with.  Hopefully this helps!!

Carolyn
