I'm not sure what to say about this one-- I was thinking about making an art doll and started sculpting a face. At some point I saw a picture of a fancy goldfish and decided to add the a fish body to my face sculpt.

This is made with Creative Paperclay, which is extremely lightweight when dry. It's easy to add new clay to the old by wetting the surface first-- it sticks right on and dries strong. I've done some sanding to smooth out the forms, and any scratches left in the clay surface can be burnished out with a little water and a soft brush or fingertip.

This is currently unpainted.... I haven't decided exactly what kind of color scheme I'd like to use, other than I'd like to paint the face like a Japanese Noh mask. I still need to make a base as well-- any suggestions are welcome!

No suggestions but this is amazing, I love it! Can't wait to see it finished.

How big is it? Is the paperclay air-dry?

This is about 7" long.

Paperclay is air drying, no baking like polymer clays. Great for pieces that you want to sculpt and be "set" quickly. It adheres well to many surfaces, just wet the surface a little and the paperclay sticks! Good for sculpting over objects that won't withstand the heat of the oven.

how perfectly wonderful!  I'd just start painting and see where it takes you....as for a base, I don't have a clue.....
I love your sculptural work, John...it's amazing...so when are you going to be putting these on Etsy or where ever else you plan to sell them?

That paperclay is really amazing stuff!  I love this, and look forward to seeing it finished with the Noh mask face.  Although, I have to say, I like it the way it is right now.

Thank you for the comments! I'm not sure when I'll be selling anything... I guess after I get it painted and decide its finally "done". I debated for a long time whether or not to sculpt scales on the body or leave it smooth to possibly add tattoo-like designs in paint, but in the end I just decided to let the sculpting of this one be done and try to get it finished up!

Thanks for looking!
John
