Anybody else collect dolls as well as make them?  Any particular material or type?  How do you like to display them?

I like cloth dolls, 'folk art' type figures, and small vintage toys.  I have a little narrow built-in shelf -- it used to house an ironing board -- YEAAH, like I needed that! I ripped the ironing board out, painted it white inside and put up some little shelves to stand my dolls on :-)  Also, I got a vintage aluminum Christmas Tree the other day - I put all pink for Valentine's Day and a bunch of the smaller felt dolls I collect on it.

That sounds great!! Do you have a photo???

There are others on here that collect and make dolls. I make doll pets (but mostly I am an oil painter) :)

Hi Gwen, I'd love to see a pic of your collection! I mostly collect the old hard plastic dolls from the 50's (Toni's, Madame Alexanders, Muffies) but I also have a few old compo babies, a bunch of kiddles (one of my first obsessions on ebay). etc. but they're mostly in storage now since we needed the space for my daughter's toys! I do keep art dolls around though, like the cats I got from you years ago, a couple of weird creatures from PinkyToast, some amigurumis that I bought as we;; as the ones I made, etc. I also have a bunch of old toys, repro robots & tons of stuffed animals. Unfortunately most of it isn't organized or well displayed at all but I should take some pix of what's around.

Geez, thinking about this is making me want to get them out & organize them, but I really need to work on my website!

Blythe ( the new releases, I cannae afford a vintage one, I live in hope of finding a thrift stor treasure one day.)
Pullip/Dal a japanese big eyed doll
Vintage barbie & friend
Flatsy
Emerald the enchanting witch
Mini MArtian
Susie sad eyes
Lonely Lisa
Beautiful Crissy & Velvet ( growing hair dolls)
ummm.... anything bizzare and ugly or strange or freaky or...

I just bought my self the tonner Silver witch doll... she's green, I love her

It's a problem I know

I would love to share pictures with everyone I LOVE seeing other people collections..although it usually makes me want something new!

I have an addiction to sculpting, but I don't collect any dolls.  Why don't you guys post some pics of your collections?  :)

Oh I forgot about Blythe, I have a couple of those too (was obsessed briefly a few years ago), and 2 mini pullips. I had a bigger one that I liked a lot but was too fragile, her foot kept falling off & therefore not really poseable (that was one of the reasons I got her, I liked the fact that they were so poseable so a foot that falls off constantly was a bit of a damper. So I sold her, I really needed the money anyway.

I remember flatsys but didn't have any. Interestingly when I was a kid I wasn't really into dolls other than Kiddles. I think I had a Dolly Darling too - remember them Nellie? They had plastic helmet hair & came in a clear roundish plastic case. I'd totally forgotten about them until I came across one on ebay & it came back to me. I also had (these aren't really dolls) TV Jones (came in a carrying case that was sort of like a TV) & the TV Jones Mouse House & Andy & Ellie Mouse Tree House. You guys probably have no idea what I'm talking about, lol. I WISH I still had those, I especially loved the Mouse Tree House. What kills me is that I came across them when we were cleaning out the garage of the house I grew up in, around 1994 or 95ish. We had a huge yard sale & I don't remember selling them or anything, but for the life of me I don't know what I did with them (unless they ended up in the attic of my father's house where we put some stuff). Now I'm getting upset thinking about them.

OH THE MOUSE  yeah I know those they rock, I didn't have them but man I could see myself trying to get them now!
I had a swack of Dolly Darlings, but sold them a while back.I like them but, as I've said too many dolls!!!!!! I really need to pare down my collection.
TV Jones was so very cool too.

I only had one kiddle growing up , but covetd lots of my friends stuff. I really didn't have dolls or a lot of toys in general, we were poor as chruch mice LOL.
BUT I'VE MADE UP FOR IT!!!!

If I should just put a link up to my toy album in photobucket LOL

I only had a couple of kiddles when I was a kid too - I had the baby in the crib that I got at a birthday party (they were given out as prizes & I'd originally gotten the one in the sailboat but the girl whose party it was made me swap with her or she wouldn't be my friend anymore). I also had one of the locket ones, one of the jewelry kiddles, & one of the zoolery kiddles. Just seeing them again seriously takes me right back to being 8 or 9 years old, esp. the locket & perfume ones. That was what got me so obsessed with them back when I first started on ebay. None of my original kiddles survived but I did get duplicates of the ones that were important to me, plus a whole lot more!! I'll have to take a pic of them.

Daughter's toys?!  Don't be silly, of course you should be playing with Your toys!   I haven't figured out how to post pics yet (oooh, big time clever moderator, huh?  hehe, real up on the technical stuff   I'll fool around with it and figure it out.  I took some pictures of the tree 'cause I had some of Cris Melo's cute little "Meg"'s on it.

I only had Barbie when I was a kid, she had every outfit and accessory known to man, but I was a Barbie girl.  Now I have every odd little toy that strikes me as interesting, but I have weird taste - I'm always bringing home a 'dream pet' or some cute cute kokeishi, or something bizarre -- I like to play with things, I have a desk full of weird little figures I like to arrange.  Right now John Quincy Adams (1970s Marx Presidents) having tea with a tiny Wade pig, Padre Pio, and a funny little salt-shaker what looks like an owl.
