Hi everyone!  I thought I'd start this section off with the basic rules of NibbleFest.  It looks like a lot of info, but it's really easy to follow.  I'll tack this to the top so that it'll be easy to access each month if you would like to review.  Please pay attention to the listing times, especially.

COMPLETE RULES:
-----------------
Listing times:

Contest starts on the 20th of each month between 4 p.m. and 1 a.m. Pacific (ebay) time (7 p.m. - 4 a.m. eastern time and those inbetween, well you know what time it is!) This gives us 9 hours to list, you're welcome to use the automatic lister if you'd like.

Run time 7, 5 or 3 days, all auctions must end on the 27th of each month.

Medium: Anything you choose

Size: Anything you choose

Support: Anything you choose

Theme changes monthly, please see the polls, calendar or message board for current themes.

Somewhere in your auction please say something like:

"This is my entry in the Nibblefest Art Contest, a themed art contest beginning on the 20th of each month. Please be sure to search for NFAC to see more great entries, each starting at just 99¢. Thanks!"

The word NFAC must be included in the title for search purposes. You can also include contest in the title, but since it's in the description, people will find it anyway. I've been told people also search for the word "contest" in titles, so you might want to consider that if you have some spare characters.

Starting bid: 99¢ (US$ )

No reserve, no extra features other than gallery (no featured plus, no bold, etc.) This is to keep things equal for everyone.

List in one category only, no second category.

Choose the gallery option for 30¢ - Please DO use this feature, it will improve your chances of being seen.

One auction per seller, if you have more than one artist in your household selling from the same ID, just let me or one of the moderators know. You can run as many as you want but can only enter one in the contest. Only one will be counted towards an official entry.

All listings are to comply with eBay regulations and completed in the usual way. If you sell for a low price, you must complete the deal. It is adviseable that you sell something worth more money so you will get more bids, hence you will make more money. Selling something only worth 99¢ will bring you 99¢. Selling a piece that you would usually get more for might be a good sweet deal in the end. Then again, it may backfire. So, please use your discretion in listing your art. You do have to be the one living with the final price. Keep in mind, however, that this is for fun and to draw attention to your other auctions. List as much as you can during the week to gain exposure. It has worked for many new artists coming into eBay as well as established artists.

The winner will be judged on the most unique bidders received during the time the auction ran, the prize is a trophy for their me page. Second and third place winners will also be announced and will receive a trophy.
----------------------------

If you have any questions regarding the rules, feel free to ask, we're happy to help.

(edited to reflect new listing times)

Hey Dawn, I'll talk with Vicky about it, but I wouldn't see a problem with it as long as it complies with Ebay's policies for nudes.

I'll get back with you.

Thanks Kelly for getting this started!

Dawn, you can post whatever you'd like, as long as it is, will be, or has ever been entered in the Nibblefest contest (& fits the theme, of course).  You'd need to join the group though, I don't remember seeing your name over there but now that I made it open to the public I'm not sure who has joined recently.

Great idea! I'm happy to hear that Nibblefest art will end on ebay at the same time. We used to do that a few years ago on ebsq, and I miss that aspect of the monthly shows. It was exciting to watch the bidding at the end!

Kelly, I have seen you talk about your nibblefest a lot, but really don't 'get' it. what is a unique bidder? do you mean different people/users or unique in what they bid?
thanks

Hey Shelia...by unique bidders, it means different user IDs.  Say "joeblow" bid on your item 3 times...it would only count as one vote.  So, someone with 18 bids on their item could potentially only have, say, 5 unique bidders.  Does that make any more sense?

I love bidding wars, but I always want those unique bidders to jump in and help out my score!  LOL  (not that I have many bidding wars, mind you)  LMAO!

Ok I get it, but HOW do you get extra bidders like that? just usual pimping?

Ack!  Sorry about that!  That's what I get for letting my hands think on their own while they're typing.    Won't happen again, promise!

Pretty much...just normal luck of the draw in my case...whoever bids, bids.  LOL  Of course, I find that people do search NFAC (probably mostly artists, but that's okay!), and it draws extra bidders in.  Also, you're likely to get more bidders just because of the attractive price, and the fact that if someone stumbles upon one of the NFAC listings, they might just type in NFAC to see the rest of the good deals that are available.  But for the most part, it's just like any other auction as far as bidding goes (for me, anyway)....I just get more hits than usual, so I try to list other things to increase my exposure and odds of getting a bid on something.

Of course, my main reason for doing NFAC isn't to win (am I a bad liar?)  LOL  because it's not like you really WIN anything, just a little jpeg trophy to put on your ME page, but it's nice to have a theme to work around..and the deadline has gotten me out of many a painting rut.

If it helps any I do a mass email to previous buyers of mine stating the start of the Nibblefest contest and I tell them to search ebay using the NFAC term. My current mailing list have over 75 ebay members (I think only like 5 of them are other artists now). I know I saw about  dozen of them bidding on the Alice in Wonderland nibblefest back months ago. 2 even emailed me to tell me what cool pieces they won and to thank me for letting them in on what was going on.

I think Nibblefest has gotten pretty popular!

Mass mailings! That is a great idea Shannon, and it helps us all, especially ones like me who have no "mass" following
I do have a question tho. would it be ok to say something like "watch for crows next month" or is it better a secret?

I usually let people know what the next month's theme is, it doesn't hurt to put it in the description too.  That way if the theme is something they're interested in they might make a point of looking for our auctions.

I have a question; does anybody think that a piece like that fits the theme "day of the dead"? The example shown is already listed, but I made another one kind of the same style, with monsters...and weird living/dead people and I was not sure if it fits enough to be in the contest for this month:

Thanks !!

just a question about listing...

If I didn't make the deadline on the 20th, can I start the auction later and do a shorter listing time (i.e. start on the 22nd for a 5-day or the 24th for the 3-day?) and if so, should I list at the same times (9 pm--2 am Eastern)?
Thanks!

as long as your auction ends on the 27th of the month between 9pm & 2am EST it's fine!

yeah it's a common problem you can't use HTML code on the board you have to use the PGD code
right over your signature box should be a button that says:PGD code

click it and it wil give you the insturctions on how to make the ocrrect code. for the signature box.
Hope that helps!

Hi,
I have a question.  I had a mishap on my auction last month and E-bay pulled it oa day before the auction ended.  I didn't realize that I can't note that I donate 10% of my auctions to a animal rescue group?  but anyway, rules are rules.  Well, I was very sad because I had hoped to sell that piece in the contest.  But that piece would fit in with this month's theme as well as a few other upcoming month's theme's, so is it alright if I enter that same painting in a future Nibblefest?

Thank so much for your help!!
-Lisa
