I just went to my portfolio to enter a piece in the Squash and Gourd show and noticed that there was not "enter into show" selection for some of my work (although it's there for other work). Is that because I've entered the piece in another show last year? Maybe once work has been in one show, it can't be in another? (so it doesn't get stale?)

You can't enter a single piece into more then 1 show. I learned that last year.

Yes, I also learned that a while back.  I kept trying to enter something in a show, and finally I realized it had been entered in a show a long time ago (I had forgotten!)

Yes, that is true.

Well, then if not, someone could just make a big painting depicting a tattooed Alice in WOnderland walking through a field with cyclamen, muscarim weeds, foxglove and butterfly bushes with bees, rodents and robots encircling her as she made her way towards a bridge so that she could get to a parade, because she was bored with the balance it required to keep her liberty hidden. LOL And then they could just enter that piece over and over again.

ooh, do you think that would be an interesting show idea? To take themes from any 3 past shows and combine them into one piece?

People would come up with really interesting things, I bet.

That's not a bad idea!

I know you already got your answer, but did want to chime in with an official, no, you can't enter a previously accepted piece into another show, and yes, staleness is part of what is behind that decision.

I know you can't keep up with everything...but I have seen a number of pieces in shows that have been in other shows. Some of them are in shows that are currently being voted on. Do you think you might put something in the show prospectus in the future shows that it is not allowed? Just a suggestion.

It's not physically possible to add work to a show if it was previously accepted in another show. The option to add it to a new show doesn't even show up in the art case. If you're seeing this happen, it's likely people have multiples of the same item in their portfolio to skirt the rules. Please drop us a PM if you'd like to discuss your concerns.

Also, Simon Sez, Photo of the day, and other forum "challenges" don't officially count as a show, so those items can go in a public show.  If its something that users are skirting the rules by putting in their profile multiple times, then thats just wrong and you should pm Gillie or Moo when you see that!!  Just my $0.02
