I read about this today and find it gorgeous! Its Barn Quilts, they have a long country history and are popular among the amish... but are making a come back.

I think this is a lovely idea for your house, or shed or any out building you have to add beauty and art to your home in a while new way!!!

I know of a house not far from here that has something like this on their shed! I'm going to go take a photo and share it when I can.

If anyone sees one around where they are, share a photo of it! Maybe you want to try one on your home?! Would LOVE to see it... I think its a great thing to do.

They are usually hand painted on barn wood and then framed with wood and hung. Some are pieces together painted wood like a puzzle, but most are just on a piece of ordinary wood and then sealed.

I really would like to do this. I have a tin star on my chicken coop, but I would like to add one of these, if not to my house or coop then maybe my daughter's play house! They are so creative and pretty. :) I would like to do a huge celtic sun or something, wouldn't that be something.

Barn quilts go back a long time! I've seen some old ones that were made of barn wood, and all worn down that were like 100 years old for auction!

They are gorgeous and look like actual quilts hanging!

They're all over around here. I think I'm going to make one for our barn too. I didn't know what they were made from though. I was worried about fading with the paints. I guess if you use the outdoor paint that should eliminate a lot of that problem.
Thanks for sharing that site! I think they are so cool!!!
