Hi there,

I haven't been heree for a long time. Life has been crazy but I thought I would stop by to ask about a paitning scam. I received an email from one Susan Cutter in the UK. She wants to buy three of my paintings. The email is transparently a scam - bad spelling and all the flags aiming at the request to send a cashier's cheque for more than she owes.

I decided to have a little fun and play along and waste some of the scammer's time so I have replied. Soon I hope to have the bogus cashier's cheque in hand. What the hoot.

Has anybody else received and email from someone of this name?

Thanks so much,
Deidre

A friend of mine played along like that!  After she got the check, she sent back play money.

I am soooo glad you had time to mess with her. I love doing that, but I haven't the time and just deleted the email.

She/He needs a good messing with! Keep us updated on the emails if you could. I know we'd enjoy the laugh.

Thanks for the replies y'all - (I have a southern accent).  If anybody wouldn't mind or receives another copy of the email, would you forward it to me, please.

I have no idea what is causing me to do this but here's the plan:

I will continue correspondence, receive the check and then report to her that I have not received it. I will be very distressed and eager to sell so hopefully she will send another. I want to waste as much time with her as possible.

After I receive the checks I will explain to her that she is being investigated. That is why I would like to obtain another copy of her emails. I will send copies to her and tell her that is has come from a keylogger I inserted in an email to her. Furthermore, I'll tell her that the checks have are on record, the accounts verified as false, and that her IP address and location have been reported to the local authorities. Then I'll tell her that this information is being revealed to her because she's going to be busted immediately.

That is worth a good laugh and will stress her out and maybe teach her a lesson. I don't usually do things like this but the idea came to me while driving home from work and I thought it would be fun to try. OR...maybe I'm just a little bit crazy!!! ;)
