This is the 2nd time I've seen these listed for sale and I've been curious about them.  They seem to come with "painting" sponges (which look like eye make-up applicators).

Anyone here use them before? Can you tell me more about them, consistency, etc.?

I just watched a demo for them & they look great, not that I need to get into a new medium. They're like regular pastels without the mess!

If you get some, let us know what you think, I'd love to try them myself.

I just saw that they're going to be at an art expo near me in early April, hopefully I'll be able to test them out.

The ASW I have near my house was bought out by Jerry's. I will be heading down there on (most likely) Tuesday. I will check them out ... now very curious. Hopefully they have popped open a package for people to sample ... they usually do that.

Hi Kim,
I haven't tried them but I did see an interesting article about Pan Pastels here.  I haven't worked in pastels yet but they look like fun.

Let me know if you how they work out if you try them.

Jerry's in Norwalk, CT do not carry the PanPastels.

Jerry's online is offering a special on PanPastels (interesting timing, I just got the email). If you buy a set of either 10 ($39.99) or 20 ($79.99) you get a free set of tools with them. I must say it's extremely tempting to just try them.

David, I was just on the Pan Pastel website to see which colors came in which set, then took a look at where to buy them retail & it said that the Jerry's in West Hartford carries them, is that anywhere near you?

I just received a sample of them in the mail - cobalt blue - which is perfect to try on a seascape.  The texture is yummy, cannot wait to try the sample and also to see how it works with the regular pastels.

Darn Vicky ... I wish I had seen this post earlier. I was just up in Hartford for some real estate seminars this weekend.

When I re-subscribed to Pastel Journal magazine, after a long absence, they sent it to me as a gift.

I was bad today, I went to an expo sponsored by the semi-local Jerry's retail outlet and bought a set of 20 on impulse. I had a chance to test them out (very nice) the only drawback was that I don't think I can get the kind of small detail I like, but I figure it might be good to try something different. I wasn't going to get them but the checkout line was interminable (they have you pay for everything at once, then go back to the vendors to collect your stuff) & we were right across from the pan-pastel vendor. The woman in front of me & I were talking about them & both of us ended up getting a set. They were $55 at this place, on Jerrys website they're $80 so I don't feel too bad about it, I just hope I use them now.
