Just curious - how many of you animal artists out there participate in charity auctions, and if you do, whom do you choose and why?

For me, if they ask and I have time to create a piece, and I've checked out their organization and it looks good, I'll do it. I've participated in charity auctions for PAWS LA (this will be my fourth year), my local animal shelter (got both my dogs from there), BADRAP (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them!! - check out BADRAP.org) and various others. Usually they contact me.

Anyone else?

I haven't participated in auctions, but at the Humane Society where I got Toby (my dog) they have an outdoor gated "room" where you can "meet" a prospective pet. They have one of my windchimes there.

I do several per month for bulldog rescue. I've mostly been contacted by each group. And I have two that I work with on a regular basis. Also have done a couple of charity donations of art for the local SPCA.
I've been running into politics lately however so I'll be dropping back a bit, concentrating on my art and the charities that I've worked with in the past.
You can view my rescue art website here as an example of how I run mine:

I donate to several animal charities. I volunteer at
Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center in Salem twice a week and try and keep at least one piece listed for them at all times. Being their physically and seeing all of the animals we help makes them my number one charity to help. I also like Turtle Moon Rescue and The Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon.

I frequently donate a painting or % of thru missionfish like this onehttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=003&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=130129223191&rd=1&rd=1...usually to Allie Cat Allies or another cat rescue because I managed a local rescue for a couple of years and know how hard it is...physically, financially and mostly emotionally!  I've also contributed some art for silent auctions for local humane organizations.
A few years ago I helped a friend (who was running the city animal shelter at the time) paint murals on the walls inside the shelter...but, they have since been painted over.
