Touching story. Our art impulse is stronger than our consciousness.

My cousin Bobby has Alzheimer's also. He is only in his mid-fifties & declined rapidly over the past 5 or so years. I often wonder how he is doing. I'd love to see him still creating. He was a lifetime artist working as a graphic artist up until a few years ago. He did a charcoal portrait of me in my teens that I still have. He was semi-successful ... exhibiting in NY many times & he did a massive job once for the New York Aquarium. His 10-foot high fish paintings were stunning in their luminicity. It took a year to do about a dozen of them. It really sucks that he has this disease.

Sorry for you both

My mother is in the beginning phase of alzheimer's. She came out to go shopping with me a few days ago with a different style shoe on each foot and is unable to remember the layout of the small yard surrounding our house. She still has several years of lucid time left though I think.

my mom was very artistic and was going to paint once she retired but she got parkinsons and never got to. This is the best time we have ever had together. It is a relief to me that we are having this kind of getting to know each other time before that eventuality.

I am afraid I will get it - my grandmother also had alzheimer's.
