the request for essays on being a self-representing artist will not-coincidentally coincide with the publication of an article about EBSQ and the self-representing artists movement coming out in next month's Smart Money magazine. So this is a super good opportunity to put yourself in front of a whole new slew of eyeballs

I was asked this via email, but I thought I should answer this here as well:

The "questions" asked in the call for submissions are meant to be jumping off points. You don't have to answer all of the questions, or even any of them beyond you writing about your personal experience as a self-representing artist. Just because this is tying in with some exposure from a financial magazine doesn't mean that we are looking for essays that focus tightly on the business aspects of being a self-representing artist. Ideally, we want something to see essays that are personal and unique to your own experience. Maybe you've recently given up a day job to pursue your art. Maybe you've gotten tired of being dicked around by galleries and wanted control of your own destiny. Tell us *your* story.

As long as we have it by tomorrow morning, you're still fine.

And a general note to folks still working on submissions: we have enough entries focusing on how to sell on eBay. We're looking for essays focused more on the personal experience of being a self-rep artist. We're particularly interested in non-eBay centric pieces.
