Looks great, Amie, thanks. I hope to be more of a presence in 2010 than this past year...

Amie,

The line up looks great!

When might we be able to expect the prospectus for January/Febuary shows?

Thanks

For the brick and mortar Candy show in February, everyone will be welcome to enter the online version of the show. Melissa O'Brien, the juror, will then be selecting roughly 40 pieces to show in her space. And there is one restriction I want to note now: all entries need to be available to ship if selected, ready to hang, and 12" x 12" square (including the outer dimensions of framing, if you choose to frame your work). Yes, you'll be shipping your work here and we'll ship back any unpurchased pieces.

The brick and mortar show in September is going to be quasi digital, ie, you enter your work online and we'll be displaying your work in the space digitally. We're still working out the final details of how that show is going to be hung, and we'll let you know as soon as we know for sure how it will all work.

yup, although the juror likely won't select more than one per artist.

Can only juried members enter the juried exhibits like the candy one, or does that just mean it will be juried into the brick and mortar show by a juror? Also, are the winners of the exhibit voted on as usual or does that work differently in these type shows as well.

I just joined middle of last year so others may already know how it works.

Thanks,
Sherry

This is the first time we're doing brick and mortar shows, so there's no precedent, actually, but we have had full-group juried shows and these are what both juried shows on the schedule this year are.

In the case of Candy, anyone can enter the online version but the juror is going to decide which pieces will be shown in her space. We're going to be measuring in the next few days to get a definitive number of how many pieces will be chosen. Right now it looks like around 35-45 since we plan to hang the show salon-style (aka all over the walls, not just in straight lines around the perimeter)

We probably will still do peer-voting, but those will just be for kudos and won't necessarily impact which pieces are accepted to the brick & mortar portion of the show.

Hope that helps!

When in February will they be deciding which entries to hang?  so is there an earlier deadline to enter for the brick and mortar?

How long will the brick and mortar hang the art?

Ok.. better make sure I have some 12x12 canvases ready. I usually do my paintings on the deeper 1.5" canvases..  Do they care if the entries are the deeper canvases? or should they be the regular thinner canvas.

can't wait! I better get to painting!

deeper canvases don't matter. just the 12 x 12 ready-to-hang part.

the brick and mortar looks like it'll be 8 weeks.

and the show will close to entries mid-february so you'll have time to ship artwork if it's selected. the show itself gets hung the first week of march and will open the first friday of march (sorry for no dates--i am without my calendar at the moment)
