I noticed July theme is Dramatic Light. I have several pieces from when I was working digitally that would be perfect for the theme. Seeing that they would be either prints or proofs may I enter them in the show on their own. Please do tell. Thanks

Hi Alma,

The "only one print" rule was included to discourage people from being lazy & entering in prints of previously created work. I don't see digital or photographic work in this category, especially if it was created with the contest in mind.

Does that help? Are your images different from the originals that you based them on (it sounds like "yes" but I don't know, not having seen them).

Yikes! I missed that "only one print" rule.  I am glad I read this.  I would have been upset if I had read that rule after I posted 3 images!.....So, if I understand you correctly it is ok to enter digital art and put in up to 3 images even though all will be prints??

Carolyn

Carolyn, it should be ok because you're a digital artist and that's the only way you can sell your work. Maybe mention in the description, "these pieces were created for the July "Dramatic Light" nibblefest contest, etc. so that I can direct anyone who complains to that (I get people complaining about the other entries all the time!)

The images that I am thinking about were created in 2005 I worked strictly digitally back then and they were created with lighting in mind. They were never sold, and licensing never picked them up. This is one of the images I am considering.

That piece would be fine to use, Alma. I don't think that either you or Carolyn would be violating that rule, but it's best that you understand the spirit of the rule in case anyone questions it. Sometimes you have to spell things out so specifically, and even then there's still someone who doesn't get it.

Basically, these works are not reprints of previously sold or painted work, each one is an original.

Thanks for checking though, better to avoid any confusion.
