I pride myself on my original designs which come from my own life experiences and imagination. I find that nature is one of my greatest inspirations and you will often see flowers, birds and other beautiful elements that are found right from my own backyard. I hope that when looking at my eggs you will feel the intensity of the passion and dedication that I put into my work.
My eggs have been sold to private galleries and collections in Canada, the US and Australia. I have had photos of my eggs published in "A Showcase of Decorated Eggs", as well as a self-published photo album of some of my earlier works. Most recently my work was featured in the April 2012 edition of Weranda one of the biggest home design and interior decorating magazines in Poland.
I make two types of jewelry, whole small
eggs and cutout pieces of larger eggs:
Small eggs such as finch, lovebird and parakeet eggs are injection filled and coated with UV Eco resin* to create mini Pysanky jewelry! The finch eggs are a mere ¾" tall!
For cutouts, I carefully cut out pieces of the eggshell using a rotary tool with a diamond blade. For these I mostly work with chicken, turkey, goose, rhea and ostrich. Then the backs of these pieces are filled with resin for strength. Once the resin has cured, the pieces are trimmed again with the rotary tool, hand sanded and then the holes are drilled. A topcoat of UV Eco resin* is used to give them a crystal clear shine.
*These durable pieces of Wearable Art may be enjoyed for many, many years. The Eco resin that I use contains UV filters so that they dyes will not fade and it contains NO Toxic Organic Compounds or Heavy Metals and is Greenseal approved, being formulated with no harsh chemicals. Most commonly, it is used to seal counter tops and bar tops.
Sterling silver and gold filled earwires are all handmade by
myself. Earwires are hand-cut, shaped, sanded and machine tumbled for strength
and shine.
