Photographic Existentialism
I have chosen photography as my medium, particularly black and white photography, due to it's ability to translate emotions, subtle moods and interior landscapes. I have been working in this medium for about 5 years now and have used it extensively to explore both my outer worlds and inner. My education in this medium has come from self-teaching, numerous workshops, and trial and error. I have invested myself in the film based process and prefer the organic feeling of working in the darkroom to the use of computers. All my images are created with film, self processed by hand, and use no digital manipulation. All prints are of archival quality. Prints can be ordered of any of the images in my portfolio and will be matted ready to frame for $75 each. Inquire for availability. I can be reached at feenix23@comcast.net.
Currently I am working on the ongoing exploration of transformation and change. I believe that all life is change and nothing ever ends. Much of my work deals in death as I am fascinated by people's (my own included) fear and interpretation of this phase of life. But death is not only an affliction of people, it also occurs in processes themselves, such as entropy and chaos, and symbolically in objects, such as empires and even dreams. Many of my photographs explore these dark realms with the hope of bringing light to the many of the unanswered questions of life. It is often the case that change and transformations are preceeded by periods of decay and chaos. I hope my photography to stand as a documentation of these changes as they occur in my life and the world around me. I invite viewers to explore these realms with me and allow their minds the space to question what they see.
