Pinocchio is my latest Painting, Sailing into the great Whales mouth, alone with his fish, and torch in hand they Sail into the Unknown. There is a lot going on in this painting, lots of water and lighting effects. With so much detail, the water gives the illution of movement. I love to paint water and translucent materials. I like the water spilling all over the place. It looks as if Pinocchio is from a stop motion/claymation type of media. The water looks neat, all shiny and sparkly. I also show in the foreground how the water is almost filling up the Panel and you can see what’s going on under water. With the bubbles traveling up, and if you look close you can see how the bottle and object look distorted underwater, (like an aquarium) It looks cool :). I wanted to paint a truly wooden Pinocchio. He has pits and cracks. It’s as if he hasn't been taken care of very well. He hasn't even been painted yet. The salty seawater hasn't helped his wooden body either. The worried look on his face says it all " What’s Next?", as he is swallowed by the Whale. His shiny eyes show that a tear is about to fall but he sucks it up because he knows that he's not alone... he has his goldfish J. This painting looks amazing in real light and I suggest experimenting with the light while displaying this piece. Everything looks alive! I Clear Coat the painting and it has and incredible shiny strong finish. I also paint the sides black so the painting is READY to HANG. I hope you enjoy this painting with all of its water and lighting effects. Oh and it’s fun to look at. Thanks Again, Josh.
