This old abandoned water tank sits out in the harsh sun of the Arizona desert, forgotten and dry. Its only companions, the remnants of an old wooden and chicken wire enclosure and the skeleton of a thirsty desert sage brush tree.
As the tree stretched itself closer to the tank, in hopes of quenching its thirst, it met the same fate as any who takes the desert for granted. The old water tank had no water left, could offer no respite to the old tree’s thirst.
Together the old companions sit, dry and parched, but never alone. Together, they will sit for as long as the desert allows, before it consumes even their rusty and burnt remains.
