This old adobe house sits along a lonely highway lost and forgotten in the Arizona desert. It was the main house to a ranch in days past, and remnants of its old history lie scattered all around the locality, for those brave enough to challenge the deserts unforgiving elements.
The window looks out onto the vast, never ending desert, reminding those inside of how truly isolated they are here, in this harsh environment.
I was truly inspired by the creativity and ingenuity of the lost builders. In this shot, you can see a large chunk of quartz sticking out of the adobe, and next to that, an old cast iron pot. Both pieces, permanently embedded into the building, or at least as permanent as anything can be in this unyielding land. The original builders obviously used all the materials they could find, not afraid to recycle and repurpose anything collected on the way. A mixed media house that was built with an artistic flair.
