One day I went swimming at Walden Pond. It was a beautiful summer day. I happened upon a huge snake (by New England standards). This snake just opened his mouth and swallowed a toad. It all happened so fast. This image haunted me all day. Later that night I had a nightmare. I dreamt that I went to the pond in the morning and nobody else was there yet. Then I found a dismember body on the shore. It was horrible. Some day when I paint good, I'm going to capture the horror on the victim face. The duality of such a beautiful day and place against such a horrible sight and crime, That is nature's way. That is the foodchain.
