My current mosaic passion is using vintage costume jewelry on frames and mirrors. This resonates deep within me for many reasons, but primary among them is that it reminds me of my paternal grandmother, Anne. She was an artist who painted, mostly, but there was this amazing cigar box on her cherrywood bedroom dresser that she covered with beads and brooches. It always intrigued me when I slept over as a very young girl. This photo frame especially reminds me of her because the brooches and earrings look like those she would have worn. She was rather fashionable and tall and could pull off big pieces. Very ironically, even though we lived in Los Angeles back then, she died while visiting her brother's cabin in Asheville, NC, when I was in college. 30 years later, I moved to a NC town just an hour from Asheville to explore my art. The circle of life indeed.
This frame holds a 5x7 print. Borders are 3". Available in my etsy store.
