I just love these iridescent gems!
I started with a 5" x 12" crystal clear acrylic tile. I covered it with black and chocolate brown polymer clay. Then I cut holes in the clay where the glass gems sit so that the light will shine though illuminating the gems when back lit. I've decorated it in my signature style. Also included are polished glass catseye cabochons, metal brads, a dichroic glass leaf, dyed shell buttons, a gold necklace, and part of an old Relic watch. The clay was cured in my oven and then acrylic and metallic paint was added. It is rather hefty at one pound! The gems have a rainbow iridescence that changes depending on how the light hits them.
It can be displayed on an easel or placed on a window sill to allow daylight to shine through.
