Strong, silent... the standing Stones of Britain continue to inspire me. The stones glow with the accumulation of generations. Britain's Standing Stones have watched mankind grow over 5 millennia... they glow with accumulated human contact and wonder. I have a fascination for these prehistoric human structures - the Standing Stones and Circles that men and mythology have spread across England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and France. These massive stones radiate a lightness - a light that comes from their contact with the whole of human history. They create - they are the stuff of British mythology. In this group of sculptures I've tried to capture the brilliance of spirit within the stone by recreating these rocky structures in glass, loading it with metals and colour, and reflecting the stones' massive nature in a fused and fractured glass and metal. The Standing Stones of Britain have generated generations of mythology, from the Druids to the worship of the sun. They are not just the memory of a Mythology - they have become one. The stones live. They provide a unique and man-made shape to our environment.
