"Etched Basket of Flowers Cheese Tray 1059©" is appoximately 12" x 4.50". The artist has used a green recycled wine bottle that is fused at 1465° F for about 9 hours from start to finish. This particular cheese tray has a raised slumped handle that makes it easy for passing the tray. In the next step the artist puts a design on the stencil, cuts it out, adheres it to the bottle and then completely covers the part of the bottle not to receive any of the sand blasting grit. She then completely sand blasts the tray until she gets the depth she wants on the design. At this point she removes the stencil and covering tape, cleans up the cheese tray, etches her signature, date and tray number on the back and it is ready to grace your kitchen as a functional work of art. The total time from start to finish with all the stages of creating this piece of functional art is about 6 days.
This is part of award winning American artist Arlene Wright-Correll's "Green Planet Series Recycled Fused Glass" series whereby the artist takes any glass object or broken glass and creates a piece of functional art out of it or with it. Now you can use it to serve cheese. This piece, after use should be hand washed in order to preserve its finish. Using normal cheese cutting implements this glass cheese tray will last a long time.
