Blue herons can be seen in the northwest in quiet clear waters of estuaries, river sloughs and streams. They are amazingly blue, large, regal birds. When they lift off, it is a thrill to watch them as their wing span is so huge. They are unmistakable when seen in flight.
This is an original drawing done on white scratchboard and colored with inks and metallics. It measures 12"x9" and has a lot of detail and fine lines because the drawing is actually etched into the waxy paper with a needle.
