This painting was the first painting I completed after the attacks of 9-11. For a time I was unable to paint. It depicts the same two real life lovers from my painting "Zen Garden" and includes visionary and tragic overtones. The ethereal wings and the use of the color white, associated with death in many Asian cultures are deliberately entwined with a fragile feeling of hope amidst destruction. Tragic beauty.
