EBSQ Art FAQ - Site Features - Shows

What type of shows are there?

Currently there are thee types of shows: general (open to all members), juried (open to all members) and EJA Juried (open to EBSQ Juried Artists only).

Who juries the juried shows?

An outside juror is selected by the EBSQ staff. Jurors receive an honorarium for their work.

How are jurors selected?

We try to choose jurors whose experience is relevant to the show's theme.

I'd like to jury a show, what should I do?

We can't guarantee that you will be selected as a juror, but we welcome you to write to info@ebsqart.com with your request and credentials.

How are the show themes selected?

It is an editorial decision based in part on member suggestions. Each year the show schedule is discussed on the members-only section of the message boards.

Is there a fee to enter shows?

There is no fee to enter General Shows. There is occassionally a fee for our juried and charity shows. The fees are stated as part of the show prospectus.

How are winners selected for non-juried shows?

Member's choice winners are decided by a straight vote. The artwork that receives the single most votes from paid member artists is the member's choice winner. Member's mention goes to the piece of artwork that receives the second most paid artist member votes. In the event of a tie, the prize is divided equally.

Patron's choice winners are based on the net number of votes from non-artist registered users for an individual work of art, and is validated by the piece being within the top 10% of the peer voted selection. This is done as a check and balance to the potential of ballot stuffing by a single individual with multiple patron accounts. Patron's mention goes to the piece of artwork that receives the second most site patron votes, again validated by being within the top 10% of the member voted selection. In the event of a tie, the prize is divided equally.

Can more than one artist win the same award for a show (tie)?

Yes, if there is a tie, each artist will win the award. If there is a prize associated with an award, the prize will be split between all winners.

Which awards receive prize money?

"Choice" awards (Member's and Juror's) are the only awards with associated prizes.

How many items can I enter into a show?

For General Shows, up to five (5) items can be submitted (unless otherwise specified in the show prospectus). For Juried Shows, up to three (3) items can be submitted (unless otherwise specified in the show prospectus)

Can my show entry be denied?

Yes. If the entry fails to meet the requirements of the prospectus, the show entry can be denied (any fees will be refunded). It is important that members carefully read the prospectus before entering a show.

Are there 'media' restrictions for show entries?

Generally all media are welcome except in the case of media-specific shows.

I would like to sponsor an art show. What should I do?

We would greatly welcome more show sponsors. Please contact info@ebsqart.com with your inquiry.
