EBSQ Art FAQ - Member Tools - Problems I'm having problems uploading images. What might the problem be? If you are uploading GIF images - they will not work. Only jpeg (or jpg) images will work.
The problem MIGHT BE because the upload is 'taking too long'... so to speak. There is a five minute time limit in which the upload 'has to' complete before the website will give up. The reason we have to do this is because it could (and sometimes did) cause the website to slow down considerably.
If you can, see if you can resize or compress the image some - typically an image will be resized to a maximum of 800x800 pixels after we receive it at EBSQ - probably less than 200kb in size.
We've recently found and tested a nice little piece of software specifically for resizing images. It is for Windows. I've seen some software do a very poor job of resizing (causing blurring). This software didn't seem to have a problem with blurring the image.
The way the software works is pretty convenient too... After you install it, it integrates itself into your operating system... All you have to do if find a jpg file on your computer and right-click it... you would then see a menu option for "Resize-O-Matic"
(a picture of the menu you would see)
You would then see the following window - I'd fill it out as such (you have to click the 'Advanced' button to get the right options):
The resulting image (after you click OK) has (Custom) added to the end of the filename.
If you care to try it - you can find the program here:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/imgresizer/Resize-O-Matic-0.3.0-beta.exe?download (you can choose to 'run it' from there - or save it to your hard-drive.)
The software is free and from a trusted source (http://sourceforge.net) which has nothing but free software (it is kind of a nerd site - go figure)...
