EBSQ Art FAQ - EBSQ Juried - Applying

How do I apply to EBSQ Juried Artists ?

To be considered for membership:

  • Submit five consistent original works of art in the same or similar medium in jpeg form to the review committee. This is done using your art case.
  • Work must be completed within the last 2 years.
  • Each piece MUST include a well-developed statement that is item specific, date of work, size, media and ground.
  • Work must be presented in a professional manner with portfolio quality jpegs. Please take the best photographs or scans you can, as jpeg quality can affect the jury's final selection.
  • Work must not have been done under direct supervision

What criteria do the jurors use for making their selections?

Art work will be evaluated with the following criteria:

*technical proficiency- use of materials, craftsmanship, professional presentation

*design- originality and composition

*overall impact- quality and consistency in design

*overall online presentation, taking into consideration the quality of the jpegs, proper cropping of the jpegs, and the quality of the artist statement provided with each piece.

Who will be jurying the entries?

The screening process will be done by a rotating panel comprised of 12-15 current EBSQ Juried Artist members. Submissions will be juried blindly (i.e. the jurors do not know whom they are jurying). A successful applicant needs to receive 2/3 majority to be accepted.

Where do I send my entries?

Nowhere. In the past, entries were emailed. Now you can complete the process entirely online via your artcase. Be aware that the jurors will see your work exactly as it appears in your public portfolio, except your personal information will be stripped and they will not have access to the rest of your profile.
