To say I was a day dreamer as a child would be an understatement. I was rarely present in the everyday world around me. I escaped at every opportunity into other worlds, in my mind or in books. Crayons, paints and books were my best friends. At school, art lessons were my happiest times.

High school brought business studies, and an awakening to the ‘real’ world. I spent the next 20 years focused on work, home and family and using my creativity in ways to benefit those endeavours.

1994 brought an epiphany, I could not continue to deny who I was, I must live a creative life.

I became a potter; I began to paint, first in watercolours and then in acrylic; I opened an Artist’s Cooperative and finally felt like myself. In 2003 my health dictated a change of direction and now my focus is on painting, photography and digital art.

Guided by flashes of inspiration, I create images that illustrate my creative journey and which I hope spark delight, inspiration and peace in others. cheers ruth ;D
