This is a project I completed during my last semester in college. It began as a black and white photo I took of Tanyard Creek in Bella Vista, AR. I wanted to experiment with a new (to me) technique with pastels and it seemed the perfect subject for the project. I used acrylic paints mixed with pumice to texture the canvas and create a very general underpainting, then I layered the pastels on top to develop details and ultimately finish the piece.
