Abandoned farm equipment is a common subject for my art. The graphic qualities as well as the implied stories intrigue me and present great material for paintings and drawings. While studying this rake on a hot summer day, I became fascinted by the shimmering effect of the "sky holes" between the tines and I was struck by the similarity to stained glass in a cahedral, thus the title.
This painting and its smaller acrylic preliminary study have been sold to private collectors.
