I pass this old pickup out beside highway 287often. I've always wondered about the stories and lives in which it has figured. When I started painting it was naturally one of my first subjects. I used the low perspective and bleak treatment of the sky and minimum background to capture the isolated and abandoned feeling.
The texture of the rusting metal and the distorted parts added to the feeling of dislocation. The significant linear perspective invites the viewer into the painting and the assumed story.
