This character sort of created herself. I was intending to model a character of a judge for a puppet but the wise woman's face came out of the polymer clay and would not go peacefully into that of the bland judge. Once I let the wise woman emerge and set that piece of clay aside, it was easy to sculpt the judge. This was not the first time I've had had a character emerge spontaneously that was much stronger than the character I was originally designing. I've found that it is best to let them have their way and sculpt, draw, paint, or digitally model them as needed until they have established their space in my portfolio. As yet, I've not found a project that needs the wise woman character and it may be that there will not be a single project as she seem to be intended as a spirit guide in my art world and just sits on the shelf in her stern but serene way.
