This was my first cityscape painting. I painted this for a painting class in college. The assignment was to paint an urban scene. Theoretically, the idea was to either sit on a streetcorner somewhere and paint what you saw or take a photo of it and paint it at home. I decided to take lots of photos while on a work-related trip to Detroit and then took some photos when I returned to Kansas City. Rather than just use one of them, I decided to use parts of ALL of them. This was so novel and fun that I decided to develop a series and have a show. Later I learned that while these paintings are really cool...they are laborious and time-consuming. I've got one left in me and then I think that's going to be it for awhile.
