If you follow my work you already know how much I love mermaids. I have created many that I am very proud of. I learned early on in my career as an artist though, that to some extent I cant always spend as much time with a piece as I might like too... Ever so often I decide to break my rule though... Amber has been a labor of love for me... I am asked all the time if my finished paintings look like I envisioned them in my mind; sometimes they do, sometimes they change into a totally new paintings... With Amber, and I guess I can say with my mermaid series they are the side of me that is most important to my sanity (not to be over melodramatic)... My work gages a spectrum of emotions, and chapters in my journey. Sometimes its important for me to forget that I have to paint to eat, sometimes I set out to do a perfect piece! This may sound conceded or maybe you may just recognized that most artist are narcissist! What I mean is that I had a vision with this painting, and I needed it to be as close to that vision as possible! I wonder all the time what my work will look like when I am 60 or 70 if I am lucky to live that long. It is important to me to have my special pieces like Amber so I can look back and remember where I was as an artist life/skill wise. I began Amber in the summer of 2007 and finished her last fall 2008. This is the first time I have actually listed her anywhere on line for sale, because she has been mine to enjoy. I am VERY proud of Amber and I am sure she will become a favorite to those that follow my work. As always, I love to hear what you think!
