Welcome to the Apostle Islands. Often touted as the Caribbean of the north, the Apostles are an archipelago of 22 remote islands off the shores of Lake Superior in northwestern Wisconsin. Since I am so fortunate to live near this most spiritual place I visit often and am very much inspired.

Among the Apostle Islands are sea caves and much wildlife. The area is touted by National Geographic as one of the "top ten most beautiful places on earth". The majority of visitors arrive to the area by sailboat. This necklace is my tribute to this most magical place.

The beadwork itself is 1 inch wide by 15 inches long with an adjustable sterling chain closure to 20 inches long. I made the blue lampwork fish that dangles among the waves and added a sail boat and a sandstone island cliff and sea cave for interest. The piece is weaved using several different size seed beads and I used doubled fireline 4lb test fishing line as the thread. It will last many years and is sure to be an heirloom piece.

The wearer of this necklace is sure to be noticed! i know this is true because I made this one for myself and I know what happens when I take it out in public!
