Mermaid & Dragon Tile

Media:  porcelain tile, china paint
Dimensions:  8 x 10"
Date of Work:  2006

Here is my first piece of Porcelain Painting. It is an 8 x 10" china tile and I did it for Glynis in a motif that I think she will like. The mermaid because she loves scuba diving and under the ocean things and the dragon because she loves the times and lore of King Arthur etc. It took me a total of 12 hours and it has 4 firings. It was done with china paint and pen. I drew the drawing on the tile and went from there. I finished with her initial in the middle. It is dark green with a gold glaze.
