Arbor Suite - Eighth in a series.
These trees are getting a wind assist with their final bows before the curtain comes down on the autumn color show.
I visualized this painting completely before squeezing the first tube of paint. The challenge was in the execution. Here again, the tree forms are simplified. This time, strong diagonal lines, the high contrast, and the saturated spectrum of color serve make a dynamic yet uncomplicated composition. Different areas of the background make use of various application techniques including palette knife (and/or fingers!), dry brush, and incising to achieve the effect of light and shadow.
