Arbor Suite - Tenth in the series.
There is a small wooded area behind my property. On summer nights, I sometimes stand back there quietly and listen to the night creatures rustling through the underbrush. I'm drawn to the woods, but at the same time, it's spooky in the dark! I have hold back the urge to run home.
While the previous piece in the series explored using color to convey light, in this piece I wanted to convey nighttime. The very deep blue ground under the trees brings to my mind how completely unknown that world is. The undulating path and tangled branches suggest the disorientation I feel in the nocturnal world. To create added visual interest, upon close inspection there are a few pinpoint touches of red painted among the branches (see detail).
