Dimensions:  10x10x1.5"
Date of Work:  3/2008

"Pearls of Wisdom" is a deeply textured abstract that has a LOT of glazework in it.

I painted this piece, and I liked it, but kept adding to it, and changing it every so often. This final change I made really did the trick. I painted a glaze of white over the inside of the copper circles and voila! I hit it! this is what I was striving for! VERY organic textures and colors and I can stare at this for hours on end.

The story behind this piece is that every so often I wish I had "pearls of wisdom" to offer the world at large whenever confusion and tension mounts and inevitably turns to chaos, but unfortunately I'm often at a loss for words during these times.

The size of this painting is: 10x10x1.5" and there are lovely textures all throughout. The bottom is very dark, due to an underpainting area of black blending into the deep burnt orange above, and then the circular white glazed "pearls" that look almost opalescent and very lustrous and luminous as real pearls are.

There are metallic copper drip outlines surrounding these pearls, and above that is a deeply textured sagey green with blue glazes over it that kind of "sunk" into the crevases of the textures for a VERY organic look.

The painting continues around the sides as you can see in the angled photos here, and I've signed it on the back. I've also included a closeup for detail of color and texture.

Due to the abstract nature of the piece, you could hang it in almost any orientation.

Thanks for looking!
