This piece is part of my "Shadowy Figures & Abstract Apparitions" series. In this series, I depict several abstracted human (or human-like) figures from afar; in silhouette form; while restricting the pallette. These "supernatural beings" appear to be going about their days, and I strive to portray a glimpse of their lives through little vignettes. There are no defining facial features on any of the figures, as I feel that leaves more to the imagination, and makes them even more interesting, (you can't be sure if they're facing you or facing away from you). All were created using a special texture paste (like spackle) and a knife. With each piece, I sought to strike a good balance between light & dark areas.

This particular piece reminds me of city life. When view it, I see the dark shapes forming people in their little boxes, living their lives, at work & at play. I used just 2 colors here, white and payne's gray.

NOTE: This piece was recently exhibited in an art gallery in NYC. The theme of the show was "Abstract 2004", and it was also reviewed in "Gallery & Studio" magazine.

This piece is the first in this series, and it inspired and informed the rest of the pieces in this theme.

Thanks for looking.
