A computer drawn primitive style picture evolved into two different manifestations, this painting being one of them.
I roughly copied the shapes from the original, using a black gel ink pen. Streetlights appeared, so I lit them and wishing to use some bright colour, I decided it should be dusk in the small area of this small town, with accents of red yellow and orange water colour paint, contrasted with greyer shadowy sections.
The austere statue commanding all to go forward prevails against the cosy houses, the faces of which are cluttered with no more than letter boxes and door handles, to allow communication, and escape from or into the twilight air.
Take a walk along the pavements, to the scout hut perhaps for a pilates session, or choir practice in the church. Run up the steps to a friend’s house. Tomorrow the department store and factory will open for business, daylight will flood the corners, and the lawns must be mowed, but that’s another painting!
